Exeter Junior High School chorus and orchestra perform at State Capitol
Over 80 students in the Exeter Junior High School chorus and orchestra performed Monday at Pennsylvania’s State Capitol in celebration of Music in Our Schools month.
Schools in the state that wished to perform at the Capitol had to apply in late summer last year and were later selected in the fall.
This is the 3rd time Exeter Township School District has been selected to represent the Reading-Berks area and share the benefits of music education.
The orchestra performed four numbers including “This Is Me” and the choir sang five songs including “We Are the Voices.”
After meeting State Representative David Maloney of the 130th District, students were offered an opportunity to take a tour of the Capitol.
The group of students visited the chambers of both the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Pennsylvania Senate. They also learned about the architecture of the State Capitol and how government works.
